Speaking
The best speakers are also the best listeners who without judgement and with genuine curiosity seek to understand, connect with and be of benefit to their audience. Similarly the best speakers do not simply share ideas which can easily be pigeon-holed but rather by using story, lived experience, and authentic vulnerability connect with the heart as well as the head.
Gary ensures that he knows his audience, allowing him to speak to their heart in a way they can relate to, appreciate and understand. He further creates an immersive experience, inviting his audience to journey with him into some challenging places and emerge with newfound inspiration, courage, resilience and hope.
Examples of Previous Keynote Presentations
What is Modern Slavery and How Can We Address It Effectively?
A compelling dissection of modern slavery, exploring the magnitude of its many faces, business models and global profitability, as well as the ways we are all inadvertently connected to it and benefiting from it. This informs our perception and understanding of the issue, which in turn illuminates how we can individually and collectively most effectively respond.
What Does It Mean to be Free?
The terror and the courage experienced by those imprisoned inside the modern slave trade provided both the catalyst and the path for Gary as he wrestled with his own anxiety and fear in the face of imminent discovery and death. The lives of those Gary rescued as well as those he failed to help, unexpectedly provide an inspirational path of transformation and hope for us all.
Behind Enemy Lines.
Sharing his experiences as an undercover agent operating inside organised crime rings trafficking women and children, Gary vulnerably shares his own journey in navigating doubt, divorce, depression and despair. His journey of descent reflects a paradoxical yet universal pattern of human transformation, ultimately leading to greater self-compassion, resilience and empowerment.
